NARRATIVE OUTLINE
''My Type Book'' includes five sections. The first one is tautology which is an unnecessary repetition of meaning, using different words that effectively say the same thing twice. It is often regarded as a fault of style and was defined by Fowler as ''saying the same thing twice.'' The second part is about syntax, the forth part in this book means rules, and can be found in formal language such as grammatical rules. The third section talks about simulacrum, means the duplication, mimicry, and recreation of the reality. The fourth section talks about metaphor states that A is B or substitutes B for A. No doubt metaphor in language is a beautiful art. The last one is the summary, which provides a definition for typography. The project should show what I learned and what I understand from this course.
CREATIVE SOLUTION
These five chapters in this book make up the principles of typography. It also has internal connection among them. To express and to exhibit a wide map of typography for designers, I put a great deal of images with explanations to present the tough type world. In this book, each chapter at lease has one art work for represent those five techniques to deal with typographic problems with fanatical but selfless authority. Typefaces, “sidewalk” and “capture it” not only give this “My Type Book” more contemporary feeling but also show strong personality.
OUTCOME
In the project of book design, my idea, a tough but interesting typography, is a clear book design, which represents everything of my understanding in typography and also gives the audience a strong feeling that typography is easy of approach and beautiful. Everything about typography is inside including fonts, images, and lots of international view.
